Where intellect and eclectic intersect

That Feeling.

I’ve always believed that life is nothing but a big chase. We’re always running after something that we believe will turn our lives upside down and fill us with a sense of accomplishment that we never imagined possible. Whether it be after a dream, a person, a passion, or any type of life goal; the feeling will tower over you until the second you finally make contact with what you love.

It’s that feeling that keeps you up at night and all throughout the day. It’s the sensation you get when pretending to be surprised that something completely irrelevant reminds you of it. It’s that moment at night where you lose all chances of falling sleep but don’t give a shit because the idea of it makes you ridiculously happy. It’s the thrill you get from imagining the future and how your life is completely turning around.

Although we know and experience all of these sensations, it’s become in our nature to torture ourselves over anything we feel just to make it challenging. I’m not saying that we add unnecessary drama to our lives, but the truth is a good fight will always lead to a better reward. If what you want were that easy to obtain, it wouldn’t even be worth the effort in the first place. It’s that ultimate draining recipe of fear and frustration mixed with confusion that keeps us up on our feet and running.

Here’s the way I see things and if you’re still reading by now, you’ve most likely related to every single point so far: although it can be tormenting to experience all of this, the truth is it’s really not all that bad. If you’re lucky enough to have something you care so much about that you’re ready to battle insanity, your life is in an amazing position. There are tons of people everyday who kill themselves over the fact that they can’t feel anything; people who do nothing but dream of having something to look forward to everyday. If you’re ever doubting yourself, take a minute to compare the anxiety you’re experiencing with the desperation of finding a direction in life. Although it may not always seem that way, the hard part is the search in itself and not the conquest.

Even though we subconsciously know all of this, it always helps when someone points it out to remind us. We have all of the material memorized but blank out as soon as the test hits and it’s frustrating. I mean, it’s so much easier to just imagine how hard of a battle we can put up than to actually fight it, right? The next time you’re in exam mode and doubt yourself, just think of this as the cheat sheet that’ll get you through your fears.
